Ryan King: General Manager
A graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2004, I completed my externship at Nemacolin woodlands resort and spa. I gained much experience in the culinary area by working at Aqueous, inside the new Hotel, Falling Rock. Within the next few years Worked in another Nemacolin restaurant, Lautrec. While at Lautrec I helped gain our 5 Diamonds from AAA and the next year while keeping our 5 Diamonds, we also gained 5 Stars from Forbes. After staying on at Nemacolin for 5 years I Moved to Crawford county. Upon moving to the Meadville area I became part of Montanas Rib and Chophouse from their opening in November of 2009. After almost 7 years and moving up from a cook to Kitchen Manager it was time to move on and find a new course. I had always wanted to learn BBQ but just hadn't got that far in my career yet. I had heard of Smoky Martin's and Ron Martin from a family member on my wife's side. Through Facebook, I reached out to Ron and a few days later we met, while the first Smoky Martin's was still under construction. After that it was a go, I would be coming aboard to help get this concept going. I have certainly been blessed meeting Ron, his family, and the rest of the people that call Smoky Martin's employer. The sky is the limit for us, I believe we all are excited for what the future will hold for us.
Will Grove: Manager, Meadville Location
My passion for Culinary Arts began in high school at Crawford County Career and Technical Center’s Culinary Arts Program. Upon graduation from the CCCTC’s program, I enlisted in the United States Army while pursing a career in culinary arts. I attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania Academy of Culinary Arts. While at IUPACA, I worked at Napoli’s Pizzeria. After graduation from IUPACA, I completed an externship at Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL. I then returned to Indiana, PA as the Sous Chef at The Rustic Lodge, a catering company. After 7 months of learning about event catering and management, I ever returned to my hometown of Meadville, PA with a job at the Saegertown Correctional Facility. I was talking with a friend who worked at Smoky Martin’s and said, “Hey if you ever need some help, just give me a call”. Well, they called and now I am grateful to be a part of the Smoky Martins family. I started at Smoky Martin’s in April 2019 and have loved learning all things BBQ. I am excited to see and be a part of the growth and success at Smoky Martins.
Jeremiah Bernett: Kitchen Manager, Hermitage Location
I lost my Kitchen Manager job in Ohio in 2008 due to the recession. I moved to Meadville Pa, landed a job, and worked my way up to a management position at a higher-end establishment in the area. I have opened many different restaurants with very high-end menus. I came to Smoky Martins to get back into the kitchen as well as learn a new skill set in the smoking of foods.
